Pembury Sunday 2 v 4 Robin Hood
Pembury entertained division one newcomers Robin Hood at Woodside. Due to several last minute drop outs the home side started with a backline average age of less than 20 and to their credit adapted well to what was a steep learning curve. Robin Hood's main threat came from long balls pumped over the top for their nippy winger to run onto. This caught the home team out a couple of times and they fell behind after 20 minutes. It wasnt long until they were back on level terms when a bursting run from Allman down the left saw him cross the ball to the far post for Funnell to cliniqually finish off the inside of the post. Robin Hood continued with the long ball tactics and again this bore fruit taking the lead in the 32nd minute. Pembury enjoyed a lot of possession and switched the play well, another run down the left, this time from Hendley, interlinked with Allman who squared to Genty in space with just the goalkeeper to beat. Unfortunately the ball bobbled at the vital moment and his shot was off target. With just minutes to half time the away team, who could have been pegged back to all square, extended their lead to go 3-1 up.
Pembury dominted proceedings after the break carving out 4 or 5 really good chances with the best falling to Funnell who with just the keeper to beat but he just put it wide. Constant bombardment on the away goal took its toll and with a few minutes left Robin Hood sealed things with a break away goal to win 4-2.
