Biggin hill 1 v 0 Pembury Sunday
After 2 defeats in the league Pembury hoped they could get their first win of the season away to division 3 outfit Biggin Hill in the Senior Cup group stages.
The tie started well for Pembury with Allman and Lester dominating midfield and getting behind the home teams back line on a couple of occassions. Their best chance came after 10 minutes when Lester cut the ball back into the path of Fermor who ws about to pull the trigger but was fouled from behind. The referee saw nothing in it and waved play on.
From then on Biggin Hill grew in confidence and through a mixture of good play and a lack of application from the division 1 team and fashioned a few opportunities of their own. The home sidevwere then awarded a penalty when a bouncing ball in a crowd of players was ajudged to have been handled by Edwards. Facing his second penalty in three games Larkin saved brilliantly to keep the scores level. Most people would have expected this to rouse the visitors into life and although they enjoyed long periods of possession, in their own third, some careless passing continued to present the ball to the opposition.
The second half didn't fair much better for the visitors and a lack of bench did not allow much energy to be injected to be able to change the game. Woody came of injured and was replaced by Yac which meant a slight reshuffle with Fermor shifting to right back, Jack Funnell moving to the left on debut and Yac joining Genty up top.
Substitutions worked well for the home team and a long ball down the middle undid the defence with a good turn from the sub forward who managed to poke the balk past Larkin into the corner to win the game.
Pemburys young side are still finding their feet and once they register a win a run of success will ensue. They must make sure they win their next group game in order to progress in this years cup competition.
