Pembury 1 vs 4 Simla
Pembury entertained Simla at Woodside in a Kent Senior Cup tie with the latter running out 1-4 eventually winners. Both sides started slowly and on a very sticky pitch flowing football was hard to come by. Simla drew first blood when a high cross out of the dazzling sun caused uncertainty in the Pembury defence and the ball was glanced in with the slightest touch. The home side grew into the game and had good success down the left flank with Ells and Clark combining well with new signing Ollie Funnell. A free kick won by Ells to the left of the area offered a good opportunity to deliver the ball into a dangerous area. Ollie Funnell whipped the free kick across goal and the other new signing Jake Miller attacked the ball well causing the keeper to flap - the ball fell to Kieran James who finished well from a tight angle to draw the sides level just before half time.
The second half saw Simla score two quick goals which meant the game was always going to get stretched and the visitors took full advantage hitting Pembury quickly on the counter attack and adding a fouth with about 20 minites to play. Pembury were unlucky not to win a penalty when Miller burst into the penalty area only to be chopped down but the referee claimed there was no contact. There were also some rash challenges by the visitors some of which were lucky not to be seen than anymore than a talking to or caution at worst.
