Pembury Sunday 2 vs 1 Crowborough Town
Pembury entertained Crowborough Town in a Division 1 clash at Woodside. The visitors started brightly and worked the balk well from back to front on what was a very heavy pitch. Their reward soon came when Millins was dispossessed in midfield giving their centre forward a clear run in on goal as Allman had moved wide to offer a passing option and the Town player rounded Larkin to finish well.
The rest of the half was a bit scrappy with Pembury struggling to find any tempo or fluidity, but when they did they managed to unlock tge Town defence only the final ball letting them down.
The second half saw a different game with Pembury dominating possession due to Millins joining Mearing up front, Wheller moving to the left and Strickland into the middle with Lester. Millins held the ball up well and brought other players into the game and as a result Mearing levelled things up after good interplay between Fermor, Millins and Hendley.
Town had their chances and struck the post twice when attacking on the break but couldn't restore their lead. Meanwhile on a break of their own Wheller picked out a pin-point pass to Mearing whose first time shot seemed to surprise the Town goal keeper and his second goal gave Pembury the lead. Jermin replaced Millins and Drury came on for another solid display from Balcombe to give the home side some fresh legs in defence. Pembury managed to hang on for the last 15 minutes and Larkin made a fantastic save in the last minute to give his team all three points and their first league win of the season!
