Pembury 1 v 3 White Hart Wadhurst

Our first home game of the campaign disappointingly resulted in defeat to the White Hart but this said there are a lot of positives to take from the game.

We fell behind to a scrappy goal midway through the first half when a clearance cannoned of an opposition player with a ball falling at their feet to drive in from 5 yards out. We enjoyed good spells of possession with Danny and Woody enjoying a lot of success down the flanks and Yac was causing their centre half a lot of problems.

We had two really good opportunities to score with some neat play down the left with a shot cross from Danny grazing the bar and Woody's volley follow up just going wide.

The ball did find the back of the net but Danny was adjudged to be impeding the goalkeeper when he just stood his ground. Danny again had another great chance when he got on the end of a whipped ball to the far post only to see his header clip the outside of the post.

In the second half we continued to play good flowing football with Sam and Andy winning the ball back for us well in midfield but against the run of play we went two down when a ball pulled back to the edge of our area was finished well into the bottom corner. We came straight back and following a few corners from the right Danny managed to pick out Jamo on the back post who finished well with his ear.

We piled on the pressure with Woody terrorising their left back and after getting hacked down time and time again the referee eventually booked their left back for nearly ripping off Woody's shirt! Our chance to equalise then came when Gunner was picked out at the far post and somehow their goalkeeper managed to save his header at point-blank range.

Cruelly we were hit with a last minute fluke goal when a player on the side line swung the ball over only for it to drift in at the far post. Overall we were very unlucky and with a lot of players to return we can only get better but it is important that we get regular players each week.
