Game 1 Simla 1 vs 0 Pembury
Game 2 Pembury 0 vs 1 Simla

Obviously always going to be a tough double header this one but we applied ourselves amicably and deserved some points out of both games. The first game saw Simla take the lead after 20 minutes when a sliced cross into the wind baffled Rich in goal and he could only palm it away but this fell to their striker who slotted the ball home. There wasn’t a great deal of football played in the first half but when we did get the ball down we looked dangerous and our best move resulted in Danny shooting from 25 yards. The ball looked destined for the top corner but somehow their keeper got across to pull off a fantastic save.

We pressed on second half leaving a few gaps at the back but the defence of Woody, Rob Rhee, Joe and Hunter stood firm. A glorious opportunity presented itself when Coxon managed to get in front of his marked and tried to lift the ball over the onrushing keeper but he got finger tips on it to deflect it to safety.

The second game was much more stretched but we kept trying to play and had some early success down the right with Nick Forward doing well and getting some crosses into the box. Unbelievably their linesman flagged me offside when I had clearly ran from an onside position and would have been clean through on goal - he apologised straight away but that was little consolation. Our best chance came from a corner swung in by Danny, flicked on at the near post with Hunter inches away. Such is our luck this season and in this game with decisions going against us we went behind to a very fortunate goal where their forward chested the ball down in the box but controlled it with his arms and shot past Rich with the referee unable to spot that the forward had gained an unfair advantage. We pushed on and chances came our way with Rob H sliding the ball across to Coxon who’s shot was well smothered but we should have been level. The final chance came as a result of another corner with everyone pushing up to equalise, the ball fell to edge of the area where Hunter picked it up and smashed a volley towards the top corner only for the ball to hit the bar bounce, what many players were saying, over the line and back into play without the referee or linesman willing to allow the goal.

Top effort from the lads and if we take that into our remaining games we should be able to get plenty of points on the board.
