Pembury Reserves 0 v 3 Roseland's

This week we entertained Roseland's at a cold and windy Woodside with a decent set of players to choose from including a sub so confidence was high going into the game.

Unfortunately the Referee did not turn up so Andy Wittaker had to take the whistle and run the game.

We started slowly with Roselands having the better possession in the opening exchanges but we were defending well and keeping Roseland's at bay with the only opportunities for them coming from range which were never likely to trouble Hymers.

As the half wore on we started to play allot better but never really created anything clear cut as we either picked the right pass at the wrong time or the wrong pass at the right time.

We got to half time though 0-0 with the better of possession knowing that Roseland's had caused us little problems when attacking and that we had allot more to give second half.

Unfortunately (Which is word I have used every week in my match reports) we completely made a hash of everything in the restart and gave the ball away cheaply and then failed to take numerous chances to make clearances and eventually roselands scored to make it 1-0 literally about 50 Seconds from the kick off.

Everyone was clearly hacked off at this point and it took us a few minutes to compose ourselves again and start playing and it wasn't long before we were having good possession again but once again are final ball was not good enough and we conceded again when Roseland's counter attacked.

We tried changing things up with about 30minutes to go by putting Matt Edwards up top and bringing Rob Hendley back to right midfield but this didn't change too much and we continued to waste the ball when we had it and let in a third with about 10- minutes to go.

This ended any hope of a positive result and although we pushed to grab a consolation we couldn't quite manage it and finished the game on the wrong end of a 3-0 score line.

Very few positives to take from the game other than that the club made £20 as we didn't have to pay for a ref. I am certainly not going to moan at the players whose performances since Christmas have been very good but maybe as a team we have got a little ahead of ourselves and forgot the things that have made us a difficult team to play for the past 5 or 6 weeks.

We have 3 games left and Hawkesbury's win this weekend has made things a little more tighter at the bottom than I would have initially thought so its important that we forget this game and get back to the performance level of a few weeks ago as we will probably need at least another 3 points to secure survival.
