Southborough Reserves 3 v 0 Pembury Reserves

We started poorly in the game and looked quite shaky at the back from the off, but we weathered the storm and started to play some good football and create some opportunities.

Southborough however had a number of good players and they counter attacked very well which caused us numerous problems.

After about 20 minutes they went 1 up with a lucky header and a few minutes after that a harmless shot from the edge of the area hit Tommy gent on the head and flew in the top corner which left the team feeling pretty dejected.

There third was a better move from their point of view and a smart finish but I still feel we let them play too much in the middle of the park first half and that allowed them to pick their passes to easily.

Half time Andy, who thankfully is now back in charge, decided to make a slight formation change going 3-4-3 and bringing on Joe Upstone for a bit of pace in attack.

This change worked as we came out second half and gave Southborough a tough second half.

We managed to not concede and with a little bit more composure in front of goal we could have made a real a game of it.

We finished the game losing 3-0 but we managed to restore a bit of pride with a decent second half performance where could have easily capitulated and a few positives to take from the game.

Unfortunately it appears that once again we are a team that plays well for only one half of a match, something that we will need to change sooner rather than later, but with Andy back at the helm and and a good nucleus of players it wont be long before we convert our efforts in to points.
