Pembury 1 v 3 Brehurst Juniors

Pembury entertained Bredhurst Juniors this week at Woodside and with something to prove after the draw with Tenterden they were looking at getting all 3 points against one of the league leaders.

Bredhurst started the stronger and took the lead after 15 minutes this kicked Pembury into life and after that the home side were looking a lot sharper and pressed the o[opposition a lot more. We soon equalised when after 10 minutes of pressure we won a corner which was swung in by Mearing this missed everyone and flew into the net. For a fortunate but deserved equaliser.

After this goal Pembury took the game by the scruff of the neck they outworked and out played Bredhurst but as the story of our season has gone so far we could not make the advantage count and bad final balls and not taking chances led to us letting them off the hook, when we have teams on the ropes we have to learn to kill them off. With 9 minutes left the Bredhurst forward hit a shot that looked to not be troubling anyone this unfortunately took a deflection off Lindo and sent Evans in the goal the wrong way, you keep see the confidence drain from the players bodies and with a minute to go Bredhurst got a 3rd with some poor defending being capitalised on.

The players need o take some heart from the 60 minutes we dominated the game, but if as a team we don’t take our chances we wont win games - this isn’t aimed at just the forwards we need to score goals from all over the pitch and defend properly for 90 minutes.
