It was one of those games where I'm not really sure what happened, one minute we were rubbish and looking as though we had not played for three weeks the next, the game was over, we had won and I was feeling as though we had just got away with murder.
The game started poorly with players out of position and a few touches that would not of looked out of place on a rugby pitch and so it was no surprise we went one down within 10 minutes. After this I expected some sort of positive reaction, however none was forthcoming and we were second best to almost everything.
They wanted the ball more, were quicker to the ball than us and ultimately wanted to win the game more than us, and with a couple of very tricky forwards looked as though they were going to. When we did get the ball down and play football the way we know we can we looked slightly better than useless, and a good move and cross found me in the box to head home the equaliser.
They then scored quickly after that and played the better football for the rest of the half. Barry got injured just before halftime.
At halftime I emphasise the importance of the game and how we needed to work much harder if we were to get anything out of the mess we were in.
Dion came on for Barry in the second half and we started with a bit more commitment and battle and Tom gent scored a well deserved goal. From here we should have pushed on, but we didn't we sat back, were punished and went behind yet again. They had a couple of good chances to take the game away from us but Marcus made a couple of great saves to keep us in it. As the game went on we got back into it and with 20 minutes left Tim found the back of the net after a goal mouth scramble.
It was very much end to end for the next 10 minutes until up stepped Jason gale who up to this point had hit every ball that got near him like and exercet missile, made a great run down the right evaded a couple of challenges, smashes a rocket from the bye line straight at the keeper, the ball hit him so hard it bounced off him and into the net. We held on for the last 10 to win the game. A good battling second half performance to move top of the league.
