Whitehill Tavern 1 v Pembury Sunday Reserves 1

Could have won, Should have won but then could have lost. Another away day and another very average performance. We looked like a team lacking confidence and ambition from the start which is difficult to understand from a team that is top of the league.

The first twenty passed with little incident and we were by now aware that all they had to offer was a long ball to the big centre forward and then to try and get the scraps from that.

When we finally got the ball down and tried to play football rather than get dragged down to the other teams level we started to create chances.

Barry scored while we were well on top with a header at the far post and from here I expected us to go on and score a couple more before the half.

But once again we switched off and didn't take the chances we created. In the second half playing against the wind they came back into the game but still only had one real option to break us down. We created more chances but again were unable to convert. As predicted they scored from exactly the way we had forecast to level at 1 - 1.

The game then went from end to end with both teams looking for the winner, the introduction of Craig Davies gave us more control and we had a number of very good chances to win the game, at the other end a fantastic save from Gary Knight kept us in it. 1 - 1 a fair result, I think not, we must start to take our chances and finish teams off when we have the chance.
