You don’t win games if you can’t score goals, and this was very true of this game. With what on paper looked a very strong group of players confidence was high going in to the game.
Unlike last week we started slowly and let Kemsing dictate the pace and the pattern of the game, and it was no surprise when they scored to make it 1 - 0. After going a goal behind we started to come into the game more and created a number of very good opportunities which unfortunately were not taken. They them scored another very lucky goal after a good saved from Steve Mac the ball bounced around and a couple of deflections later the ball ended up in the net.
At half time we talked about getting the ball wide and we still expected to go on and win the game. It was a very disjointed start to the second half with both teams creating half chances, Barry then came up with a lovely finish lobbing the keeper and we were back to 2 -1 with 20 minutes to go. I then missed another chance while standing on the goal line which for me rounded off what must be the worst display of finishing from a Pembury player since Gavin Stapleton graced the field of dreams that is Woodside.
We chased hard but couldn’t score and with the final kick of the game they scored the third. Very disappointing to lose a game that you shouldn’t but on a positive note, the first game that we have not conceded a penalty.
