Kemsing United 4 v Pembury Res 4 aet

The assembled squad resembled a cross between dads army and the teletubbies (loads of oldies and some strange looking youngsters) still confidence was high and everyone was looking forward to playing on a pitch that looked like the side of Everest. That was until we were told that the ref was being assessed, as we all know when this happens you are in for an interesting morning.

We started brightly playing some good football and were rewarded when a good move down the right was tucked away by Tim Marshal, playing down the slope was helping us and soon after we got a lucky goal off the the massive arse of scott Evans after good work chasing the ball down.

It was at this point we took our foot off the gas and lost all discpline. With 5 minutes left of the half we conceded a soft goal which was no more than we deserved and the second time in two weeks this has happened, however, it was time for the first of the strange events when a good cross from Chris Elles was chucked into the net by the goalie 3 - 1 half time. During the second half we were completely outplayed. We gave away another soft goal for 3 - 2 and then one of their players was sent off for a awful two footed challenge. Going down to 10 seemed to inspire them further and soon it was 3-3.

We hung on till the end and extra time. By this point they were getting very frustrated with the ref who was playing to the letter of the law, however they took the lead for the first time with a well taken penalty. Having booked a number of players for swearing ( one who wasn't even on the pitch ) it was no surprise when they were down to 9 players. We took full advantage of this and scored with only a couple of minutes left 4-4, from the resulting kick off the forward smashed the ball from the half way line and into the roof of the net with Grant looking on in dismay only for the ref to disallow the goal for not having blown his whistle.

This did not go down well and when the whistle finally did blow we all made a hasty retreat to the changing rooms keeping well away from the ref.
