Blantyre 4 v Pembury Res 0

It was always going to be a day to forget. Away at Blantyre, only 12 players and Olly Allman map reading. How can you get lost in Goudhurst it’s so small? When the final 4 players finally arrived at 10.25 I felt things could only get better.

I was wrong, the criteria for being at Blantyre must have changed from just being a criminal to being a criminal who is good at football because this is the best Blantyre team I have played against for a long time. We defended well for the first 20 mins without really creating any opportunities ourselves.

Then a defensive mistake, well a pass to the centre forward let them in to open the scoring and then a minute before half time we conceded another sloppy goal.

The second half was more promising with us playing much better and creating a few chances on the break. The smell of lunch caught us off guard and we conceded again to well taken goal.

Macca who at this point had done nothing except pick the ball out of the net was called upon to make a fine penalty save, the calls of “justice” were not well received. A comedy of errors then lead to the forth goal and game over.

We rallied well towards the end, played some good football and created a few chances, but it was not to be our day.
