Tonbridge Casuals 3 v Pembury Sunday 'A' 1

We went into Sundays game with a good expectancy level, having already beaten them in pre-season friendly and thought that we had progressed from then and were now a better side. How wrong we were.

Ross assured me that as a more senior player he was not having to many beers and was going to make sure the younger players were going to be in good shape. I know from then we were in trouble. Good shout Ross. The team talk was all about taking our opportunities whe were were presented them and that if we played to our ability we could do well in this cup.

Not only could some players not see properly they also apparently could not hear to well eithere, because we were a shambles from the start. Defensively we were slack in marking and slack passing. In midfield bad control and could not muster more than one pass on most occasions. Which meant the forards werent seeing the ball much. When they did Rob missed a good chance, Richard produced a good run and was brought down for a penalty.

Ross stepped up and hit the post, at least it was their post not ours he hit. We payed the price and at half-time were 3-0 down.

Second half was better but again wasted chances. Lewis beat two players and stuck his shot in the corner of the net from the edge of the area for a goal and cap a good display from him. We showed a bit of character and played better in the second half as it could have been embarrasing. What was said in the dressing room after will stay there but you players who know you werent up to scratch, I hope you put it right next week because you owe it to the players that did try, but more importantly you owe it to yourself to do well.

So the management will be running about this week getting kit washed, Sunday morning putting the nets up and clearing up dog shit from the pitch in the belief that were doing the right thing. Lets put that display behind us and learn our lessons and get on with our tough fixture next week.

Fellas, everyong has too enjoy themselves, we were all young once and my wife reminded me I was no different, but for 2 and a half hours on a Sunday morning you should be ging 100% as your doing well in the league and deservidely so, dont waste your opportunites to get something from this season.
