In the 10 years I have been associated with Pembury Football Club I can honestly say IÕve never been ashamed to be part of this club, until this weekend.
Out of over 25 players asked to play Saturday we had only 8 available, some absentees were due to injury which is understandable, the rest have not only let me down they have let themselves and this football club down as we had to forfeit the fixture (if anyone form Canterbury City read this my apologies).
But it is pointless me moaning about it as it has been getting gradually worse over the season , I mentioned my disappointment last week hoping that some of the players might read this and put right the problems we have had recently in terms of player availability, my mistake!
I am hoping that this weekend was the eye opener for the rest of the club to realise we have serious problems on Saturday that need to be looked at by everyone at the club to try and find a solution. I take full responsibility as it is up to me to get the players there and IÕm afraid the players who said they would play at the beginning of the season have not materialised or have only played sporadically.
We are now in a fight to see if we can fulfil our fixtures, so I am asking (begging) the players to make themselves available for the last 6 games of the season so we can finish with at least a little bit of respect and pride.
