As predicted, with a strong squad to choose from, changes were made by the management. Pembury also saw the return of club captain Barry Leete, from a three match suspension to bring additional competition to the starting eleven. After a well contested first 45 minutes both teams went off at half time level, with Pembury looking more likely to score.
The second half was all about the away side, with strong periods of attacking play in the opposition's half. However, once again possession & chances were not converted into goals, and Charcott were quick to hit Pembury on the break having two or three good opportunities to get off the mark.
Pembury were dominating the game but with 20 minutes to go it was still 0-0, so the manager seized the opportunity and made a very bold change. Tom 'Crash Bang' Bowyer made way for Ben Brooker, and the formation switched to 3-5-2 with Brooker supporting the front two in order to put some additional pressure on the home side.
The tactical switch brought immediate success, as Evans broke the deadlock with a strong finish from inside the six yard box. Pembury continued to press the home side, and with 5 minutes to go Leete sealed the win with a low strike into the bottom left hand corner.
Huge positives to take from today's game, first league win & first clean sheet of the season with strong displays from various individuals, notably Turner & Ells in midfield. However, it is fair to say the side is still not clicking with cries of "could do better" from the sidelines.
