Pembury Res 3 Vs Old Boars 7

Once again Pembury went into today's game with a depleted squad, with a few last minute withdrawals & one no-show.

The home side went two goals down very early on, before pulling one back with an own goal after some impressive movement through the midfield. Numerous chances were squandered by Pembury, and yet the same could not be said about Old Boars with nearly every attack leading to a goal, including a lucky deflection & one from an almost impossible angle. Just before half-time, Leete scored a wonder goal from the half-way line leaving the keeper stranded & giving the home side some hope. At the end of the first half it was 2-4 in favour of the away side, put still all to play for.

Pembury started the second half strong and pulled a goal back with a Ben Brooker header. The home side were at last battling and confidence was beginning to grow, however, passes & opportunities were wasted in the final third. The away side responded to this pressure by scoring twice from literally their first two shots of the second half. Although Pembury's defending was far from impressive, it seemed as if every Old Boars attack resulted in a goal. Further goals added to Pembury's despair, as the visiting team took the three points comfortably.
