Pembury 2 Insulators 0

Another solid if unspectacular performance gave rise to a fairly comfortable 2-0 win over Insulators.

Both halves followed fairly similar patterns - we had the better of the possession and good chances that we failed to capitalise on. That said it appears that there will be no easy games in the division and we should be happy with another win that sees us go top of the table.

The first goal came on 16 minutes when Chris Mearing latched on to a through ball and slotted the ball past ex Pembury old boy Sage. To their credit Insulators continued to battle but could make few inroads into our defence that once again was solid throughout.

The second goal was always going to make the game safe and, despite several good chances beforehand, it did not arrive until the 60th minute. Liam Gent, who had worked tirelessly throughout mainly in a defensive role, made the goal when broke through the midfield and found Chris Mearing beyond the far post. Mearing supplied a neat lob across goal that was headed home by Andy Lindsey.

After that we controlled the game, retaining possession very well with the only downside being that we perhaps didn't score more.

Nevertheless it was another win that sets up nicely for what will be a very tough challenge at Artois, who have a 100% record, next week.
