Swan 0 Pembury 0

It was a frustrating morning at Edenbridge as we failed to take three points from a game that we dominated for long periods.

It was always going to be a tough game after Swan's victory over Gardners the previous week and the first half was a relatively tight affair with both sides finding it hard to create clear cut chances. We had had the better of the possession but had squandered good opportunities by trying to be too intricate in our build play up and as a consequence never really got behind their back three. In fact it was Swan who came the closest to scoring near the break when Liam Baker managed to block at close quarters a tap in after the forward had rounded him.

Our half time chat asked for a positive attitude, more width and better quality final ball and we proceeded to dominate the first thirty minutes of the half. Good chances were created as Swan tired but our finishing let us down. Having weathered the onslaught Swan came back in the final fifteen as the play became very stretched. Both teams went for the win in this period and both will be disappointed not to have put away good chances to win the game.

In the end whilst we deserved the three points we easily could have ended up with nothing. The game has hopefully shown us that there will be few easy games in the division and that we will need to be at our best every week if we are going to challenge at the top.
