After convincingly beating Frant in the first part of our double header, the team were asked to put that game out of their minds and approach this game in the correct manner. Predictably this was very hard to do and we made a very poor start. We failed to retain possession and Frant had by far the better of the first half. In fact we only mounted one serious attack during this period, when a fine long through ball from Ross Taylor was met by Chris Mearing, who easily rounded their keeper to open the scoring. However rather than build on this we continued to squander possession and Frant equalised before half time. Lee Thomson made a great save from the initial shot, but was unable to do anything as the ball rebounded to one of their players, who duly dispatched his shot into the net.
Thankfully we were able to call upon a squad of 16 for todayÕs games, which meant we were able to replace tired legs at half time. The second half was pretty uneventful with us looking the more likely team to score, when we got the ball down and passed our way around them. A decent move down our right ended with Chris Mearing drilling in a low cross, which the on-rushing Mark Wyles met inside the six yard box, for his 11th goal of the season.
Well done to all 16 players as taking maximum points from double headers is never that easy to achieve. 9 points from our last 3 league games has lifted us up to 5th in the league, with half the season still to go.
