Pembury Reserves 4 v Frant 1

After an even exchange in the opening 10 minutes we were given the opening goal by the oppositionŐs goalkeeper. A free-kick from the left was sent in by Ben Brooker and the sight of 3 Pembury players closing him down resulted in the keeper letting the ball straight through his hands. This gave us a lift and we started to dominate the game. Good link up play by our 2 youngest players, Matt Rice-Tucker and Olly Allman, was constantly creating good attacking opportunities down our right. Our second goal came when a mis-hit cross from Ben wrong footed their defence and Mark Wyles. Somehow Mark managed to get his foot to the ball and scramble it over the line.

At this point the reporterŐs recollection of events is a little sketchy (probably from having to play 30 minutes on Saturday, followed by a further hour on Sunday), so apologies if the order of things is a little out!

Ben added his 2nd and our 3rd when he volleyed home from 10 yards early in the 2nd half. We dominated this half, where Ben completed his hat trick before Frant scored a consolation goal. This took BenŐs tally for the season to 14 and was in fact his 3rd hat trick of the season. Much to the amazement of all his team mates who ventured back to The Black Horse after the game, Ben actually followed the time honoured tradition of purchasing a jug of lager, having failed to on the two previous occasions.
