Saturday saw us plunge to an all time low performance, since I have been involved at Pembury, as a player or Manager. Even last year when we were struggling week in week out to field a side, we did not perform so ineptly.
I felt we had a very strong side, this week and a victory, over a side we had already beaten this season, would have moved us within 3points of them in 3rd place, with 4 games in hand. It would have also been our 5th league win on the bounce. However none of this seemed appropriate motivation for us to apply ourselves to the job in hand.
To say that the scoreline did not reflect the game would be fair, but only in that they should have scored more. Several more.
As a team, we just looked totally out of our depth, against a good side but nothing more than that.
The manner in which they scored was the most alarming factor, as time after time they waltzed through our defence, with such ease, I truly believe, our reserves would have thumped us also.
We cannot hold a high defensive line, which gives someone 40 yards to run into, then give their playmakers 5-6 seconds on the ball unchallenged, and expect not to get ripped to shreds.
Football is about, determination, communication, desire and making good decisions. All pieces that were missing from our performance.
Next week we have Platt away, a team who are at the foot of the table, and an opportunity to bounce back.
Expect changes !!!!
