Larkfield & New Hythe Res 1-5 Pembury

After last weeks victory I was keen that we followed that up with another, in this Kent Cup tie, against a team we should expect to beat.

The lads did not disappoint, even though it wasn't quite the polished performance the scoreline may suggest.

We went ahead after about 15mins, when Alun Evans, who was making his 1st outfield start, punished some sloppy defending from close range. It remained 1-0 at half time, but if we had gone in 6-2 up, it would have been a more accurate reflection of the half, as we were missing some absolute sitters, and they were causing our defence some problems, but poor finishing was letting them down.

They started brightly in the 2nd half, and got there reward after about 10 mins, 1-1, and a possible upset on our hands. But then, within 60 seconds of the restart, we produced the move of the game, a simple but slick passing move down the right, resulted in a low cross which Ollie Allman finished coolly at the far post. A 3rd was soon to follow when Sargy converted from the penalty spot. Aus got a the 4th with an excellent lob, when under serious pressure from their centre half. The 5th was drilled home by Alun Evans, after some strange set up play from Chris Ells. People who were watching may have thought he had tripped over his own feet, trod on the ball and lost control of it, but he assures me he has been practicing this in the garden, also if anyone knows we can get some Edgar Davids style Glasses, can you let me know, as Ellsy also claims the reason he did not come away with at least a hat trick was because the sun was to bright.

In general a decent display, with some positive performances. Next week we are at home to league leaders UK Paper, another result would be great, to lead us into 3 further weeks of cup games.
