Today we achieved our first victory of the season, a season which has got off to a stuttering start, after a promising pre-season.
However, we not only won today which was critical, but we also played pretty well.
We started at a good tempo and were on the ascendancy from the off. This pressure was converted into a lead when James Philpott, broke free, rounded the keeper and slotted home. This is how the half ended, but only thanks to Alun Evans, who made an excellent reaction save.
The second half was quite the opposite, we did not come out of the traps at all, and APM deservedly equalized after about 10mins. This fortunately, woke us up and we responded with a further 2 goals, via Dan Hesmer and Chris Ells. There was still 25 mins to play, but we saw these out without to much trouble.
