Pembury 3-3 Platt

Despite thinking last week may have been our last game, we completed our fixtures against Platt, who had been wrongly reported to have withdrawn from the league.

This was my last game in charge, of the 1st team, as I am stepping down as of now, to let someone else try and move the team forward.

I asked the players for a win and a clean sheet as a leaving present, both of which should have been achievable against a side who have record of P 23 W 0 D 1 L22, but we could not even manage that, despite being 3-0 up with about 30 mins to go.

Last season I thought it could not get any worse, and even though it I don’t think it has this season, it probably has not got a great deal better. We have won 2 more games, drawn 1 more and lost 1 less, but have played 2 more league games this season than last. Not what I would call progression.

This season however, is history now and the club must start planning for next, from now. The players need to try and attract other players, as we need quantity as well as quality to come in.

There have been positives to come out of the season regarding some of the personnel. But there is a serious amount of hard work ahead, otherwise we may find ourselves in Platts situation in the not to distant future.

I have enjoyed my time involved, and hope that the warning bells have been heard, and next year Saturdays will be a more united team on and off the field. Which in turn will show in results on the up.

Commitment is the Key.
