Pembury kicked off their campaign with an impressive victory over a well organised Otford F.C.
The first 10 minutes were a touch edgy with the visitors, forcing Rob into a decent save at his near post, and also a couple of corners made they way across our box, without anyone taking command and clearing. The rest of the first half was fairly even, but the back 3 of Benny, Lindo and Steve W were relatively untroubled, and any situations that arose were dealt with, with confidence and ease. Their performance throughout was very solid, and a good basis to build on.
It was 0-0 at half time, and the team talk consisted of, continue to do the basics well, and try to threaten a touch more.
At this point, I have to admit, if we were to end up taking a point from the game, I would have been happy.
This was not to be as we took it to them, as we progressively became stronger and more dominant.
After about 60 mins Oz found himself in a great position on the right flank, and put a peach of a cross in, which Dave H duly obliged in burying at the near post with his head. About 10 mins later Hymers got his second, when he drilled the ball home from the edge of the box, after great work from Marc W and Paul W on the left flank.
With about 10 mins remaining Oz capped of a superb all round performance when he to drilled home from the angle of the box.
Late on Tom G replaced Andy M and Joe P took over from Hymers.
The engine room of Ada James, Andy M and Browny deserve a mention for there solid and disciplined performance.
All together it was a very encouraging display, and one that the players can be proud of.
