Poor run continues

Our poor run continued this week with a frustrating performance against high flying Putlands.

However much you prepare and plan, a team, you cannot account for poor mistakes, which were to cost us 3 of the 4 goals we conceded.

After a better start, than we had made in weeks previous, Ben Turner gave the ball away in a central area, which was the first of three times we could of cleared the ball in a move which culminated in them scoring at the far post. The second was equally calamitous as Steve Waterman headed over our keeper as he advanced off his line. This made it 2-0 after about 25mins.

Their third was a fairly well worked goal, when they got to the bye line and put in a decent cross, which was dispatched at the far post. This killed the game off.

Their final goal, in the final minute was disappointing, as one of their defenders was allowed to run 60 yards, to finish just inside the box.

The frustrating element from my point of view, was that in between goals we actually competed well, and had a lion share of the possession.

The positives to take from the game, was that the, attitude and commitment was a vast improvement on the week previous, and a couple of players in Michael Brown and Andy Mearing had their best games to date.

A harsh lesson, hopefully, was learnt today, against a team, that will be in the promotion shake up at the end of the season.
