Our run of poor results came to an end this week, with a fairly satisfying win at Woodstock.
We started well, and had a good tempo to our game in the opening 10 minutes. This resulted in a defensive error by their centre half, who was put under pressure by Oz. The ball fell nicely for Paul Washer who bore down on goal. His shot was only parried by the goalie, and Alun Evans followed up well to convert the rebound.
Instead of this settling us down, the play for the rest of the half seemed a bit disjointed, as we had trouble to come to terms the formation they were playing. However we did get a second, when an Alun Evans corner was helped on by Oz, and Paul finished from close range at the far post. 2-0 at half time
The second half, opening exchanges were fairly even, but has the half wore on they pushed more and more players forward to try and get back in the game. This meant there was a lot of space behind them, but also we had to be wary at the back.
An unchallenged header in the centre of the park, led to them getting a goal back with about 20 mins to go. This encouraged them even more to push on, and at they played with 5 players advanced for the remainder of the game.
Gaps appeared at the back for us to exploit and a good through ball from Chris Else, found Liam, who raced on and finished coolly. 3-1 up and this is how it finished.
Credit has to go to all the players as we have been low on confidence of late, but we stuck at it and got our rewards this week.
Rob had another, solid performance, as did the back four of Steve, Lindo, Browny and Benny. The midfield were industrious as were the front two.
Hopefully we can progress from here, and get our season in the league going again.
