After last weeks rather strange, but exciting game, normality was resumed this week, and for a change it was us who came out on top.
With a full squad, and Wardy coming in for the injured Ada James, we had every reason to be confident of taking something from the game.
Within 30 seconds of the start though we had to replace Liam, who looked to have pulled a hamstring. Andy Mearing was his replacement, so after a slight reshuffle we were up and running. The game looked as it may follow a similar pattern to when we played them just before Xmas as they sat back, and seemed content to hit us on the break. The only difference this time was, after about 20mins we went 1-0 up as Andy headed home a Ben Turner free-kick. The rest of the half was fairly comfortable, if any thing we should have increased our lead.
The focal point of our attacks, was Alun Evans, who was playing well, and the supporting youngsters, Joe and Chris were industrious. The back 5 were comfortable, and in control. The only real threat, was a rasping volley from Guru, which Rob done excellently, to tip over.
25 mins to go and there discipline was waning, as they began to concede fouls and badger the ref quite a bit. Alun drilled a superb ball through to Chris who was in full flight, and he neatly tucked away. 2-0 up and cruising.
The final 10 minutes were upon us, and just to rattle our nerves, we conceded a penalty, when Wardy miscontrolled and tried to get the ball, but just too late. Rob again saved well, but the spot kicker followed up and scored.
No more scares though, and when the ref blew up, a well deserved victory was ours.
Well done to all the players, and with some to come back still, hopefully we can progress from here.
