This week we suffered our 10th defeat of the season to promotion hopefuls Sutton.
The week before we very poor especially in the effort department, so that was the least we had to improve upon.
This week we started positively, and after about 20 mins were in control. Nevertheless we had not really created any clear cut opportunities, and gradually Sutton came back into the game. I felt this was more by ourselves actually waiting for them to do something, rather than them upping their game.
As in weeks previous this resulted in them taking the lead, aided by some poor defending from ourselves. Despite this the team stuck at it, and Steve Waterman had an effort cleared off the line, but we went in at half time 1-0 down.
The second half again we started well, but they hit us on the break, when we had the ball in their box, to go 2-0 up. Again it would have been easy for us to crumble with confidence throughout low, but we hit back when Woody finished from close range. 2-1 and back in the game. 25mins to go and a double blow, Lindo and Andy M have to come off with injuries, and with myself as the only sub we were down to 10 men.
We continued to press, but again they hit us on the break to make it 3-1. This is how it finished.
We as a team have got to stick at it, and believe it will turn around for us if we keep working hard, and you never know we may even get the rub off the green one week.
Next week we travel to Atcost, which is a six pointer if ever there was one. Players making themselves available would be nice, so at least we have a strong 14. But if you do want to play, make sure you are prepared for battle against our local rivals, in a must win game.
