2-2 draw against Lanes End

Lanes End went away from the Woodside with a point, that they may well of felt a bit fortunate to have got, and a point for ourselves would have been taken before the game, considering we were missing 5 players from last weeks squad.

We once again got off to a slow and disjointed start, but after about 10 mins we settled down and began to impose ourselves on the oppo.

They proved, as expected to be a very physical side, which sometimes boiled over into some quite naughty tackles, which with a stronger ref would have resulted in them losing a player or two.

They had a fair amount of possession, but it was Pembury who were creating the clearer opportunities.

Our first goal came from the penalty spot, after Ada James (who had a good game throughout) was brought down. Dave Hymers despatched the pen.

Shortly after they hit back with a some what fortuitous goal, via a deflection to their front man. This is how it finished a half time.

The second half continued with us creating the odd opportunity, and them finding it very difficult to break down our defence.

Mid way through the half we got a second penalty after Dave was pushed in the box. He duly converted this as well.

It looked at this stage like we may hold out for the victory, but it was not to be as they scored a decent header from a corner, which was annoying as we had talked about this before the game.

This is how it finished up, even though we missed a glorious chance when Dave side footed straight at the keeper.

All in all it was a good performance, all things considered, and the positives were the performances of Debutants, Chris Ells, Rob Cornish and particularly John Dallas.

The usual suspects played well, and could not be faulted by their desire and commitment.
